Well, yesterday I attended the pre-event lab detailing how to produce and distribute media to mobile devices. Very cool stuff. It went through the gamut including advances to Adobe Device Central CS4 and how to use it effectively to test your application created with Flash Lite. Flash Lite 3 will be released shortly, and a developer's edition is currently available for download at Adobe.
I was fortunate enough to run into Jonathan and Derek from the D-Flex Dallas Flex group. Great bunch of guys and am hoping we can do a group event showcasing Flex in the near future. With the latest announcements today regarding the release of Adobe Air 1.5, there should be plenty to talk about.
Adobe announced today during the keynote there are more people at this MAX than at any other previously with over 5000 people registered for the event. The auditorium was like a Pink Floyd concert (sans flying pigs) - with awesome video visuals on 3 huge screens. I thought the mixer dj was a tad "over the top" though. There were thousands in attendance. I was about 3/4 of the way from the stage when I saw a woman with a cue card stating simply "Community Leaders". I went up to her and she led me to the 10th row from the stage with the other AUG managers/co-managers. Nice. Adobe really knows how to take care of its user groups.
One of the special guests this morning was the First Lady of California - Maria Shriver. She mentioned jokingly that with all the talk about Flex and everything, it was kind of over her head and was going to leave, but she noticed that the audience was 99% male and decided to stay. Very likeable person. She also said however that it was "like a Star Trek Convention in here". I'll give her that one. :]
Today attended a "Deep Dive into Flash Pro CS4". Wow. Let me say this again "wow". The enhancements to the animation functionality are incredible. We're going to have to schedule a Flash Pro CS4 demo soon with the group. It was noted today during keynote that Adobe is currently working on releasing a FULL VERSION OF FLASH PLAYER 10 for Mobile Devices! That is, in a word, incredible. So in the future, the flash player that you see on a mobile device will have all the functionality you'll see on the standard computer. I thought that was pretty incredible.
That's all I have for now. I will write more tomorrow. Take care everyone -
Kevin
